my blog is basically exists for running gags.

perfectly legit question!

first i draw out all the frames (or layers) in photoshop. my method is usually having a psd having all the base elements, backdrops, sprite, props, etc and then i’ll move/manipulate them around. kind of like what the guys who do south park originally did with construction paper, only i do it digitally.

when i have the frame as i want it to look, i copy the visable and paste it into a new image as a solid frame. lather, rinse, repeat until i get all the frames i want done for one image.

from there, i save the whole thing as an animated gif, but i don’t worry about frame times or compression yet.

that’s where “ulead gif animator” comes it.

i open up the prepared gif with that, set the time for the frames that i think fits best (because some frames i need to be faster/slower than others), then when i’m satisfied with the timing, i export it into a final gif and upload it here.

that’s about my method for doing it.
